Turkish state minister for the Treasury met with ambassadors of the European Union member countries in Ankara on Tuesday, reported World Bulletin.

Minister Mehmet Simsek and the European ambassadors gathered at the French Embassy over a lunch, talking about the ramifications of the global financial turmoil in Turkey.

Diplomatic sources cited Simsek as telling the ambassadors that Turkey's economy had stood on strong grounds and it would soon overcome the effects of the crisis.

The progress Turkey had made on its EU membership bid was also on the agenda of the meeting.
