Turkish President Abdullah Gul will travel to Syria on Friday on a 3-day official visit, an official statement said on Thursday, Xinhua reported.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Mehmet Mehdi Eker as well as Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay will accompany Gul for the visit, said the statement issued by Presidential Press Center.
During the visit in Syria, Gul and Syrian President Bashar Assad will exchange views on regional developments and international matters as well as bilateral relations.
Turkish officials said that the visit of the Turkish president will renew the suspended indirect peace talks between Syria and Israel via Turkey.
Last December, Syria suspended indirect peace talks with Israel in response to its attacks on the Gaza Strip.
Last May, Syria and Israel, technically still at war since the first Arab-Israeli conflict in 1948, began indirect talks via Turkey after direct negotiations halted eight years ago over the thorny Golan Heights issue.
Following four rounds of negotiations, the process has been on hold since then Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announced in July he would step down over corruption allegations.
