Turkish president: Terrorist attacks deteriorating situation

The increased number of terrorist attacks in Turkey is the result of the deteriorating situation in the region, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said today at a Cooperation in Southeastern Europe summit, the Cihan news agency reported.

"Combating terrorism is a process requiring a great deal of time and effort," Gul said. "No one should doubt Turkey's intention to continue this fight."

He added that "we must fully trust and support our soldiers, our police and our security forces. We will fight until the end."

An explosion took place near a military facility in Istanbul Tuesday morning. The terror attack killed four people, including a child, and injured nine, CNN Turk reported.

A bus carrying Turkish soldiers was also blown up by a fragmentation mine.
