US army chief to visit Turkey

Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, is scheduled to arrive in Ankara for talks with Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Ishık Koshaner, the Anatolia news agency reported.

Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, is scheduled to arrive in Ankara for talks with Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Ishık Koshaner, the Anatolia news agency reported.

It is expected that Michael Mullen will also meet with Turkish Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul.

Admiral Mullen will discuss withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, the situation in Afghanistan and issues related to the U.S. military base in Turkey,  Dogan agency reported.

Mullen will become the second foreign guest of Gen. Koshaner, who assumed the post of Chief of General Staff of Turkish Armed Forces on August 27 this year.
