The U.S. State Department on Sunday condemned the suicide bombing in Istanbul, Turkey, which wounded dozens, Xinhua reported.
"The United States condemns today's terrorist attack in Istanbul, Turkey, which brutally targeted innocent civilians in one of the city's busiest squares," the State Department said in a statement.
"This is a shocking crime and the people of the United States stand in solidarity with our friends, the people of Turkey," the statement said.
"We hope to see the perpetrators brought to swift justice and stand ready to offer any assistance and support," the statement added.
Fifteen police officers and 17 civilians were wounded when a suicide bomber blew himself up near a police bus at the Taksim Square in central Istanbul on Sunday morning, according to Turkish local media.
