Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, who is on visit to Turkey, has met with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the TRT Russian Service reported.

Agreements were signed in many spheres at the meeting - specifically in defense and infrastructure.

A dinner was hosted in honor of the Pakistani PM.

Erdogan's spouse Emine was awarded the Pakistani state order, "Hilal-i-Pakistan," during the dinner, for her activity in Pakistan's flood-affected regions.

Earlier, Gilani was awarded the Republican Order for his contributions to improving friendly ties between Turkey and Pakistan and bringing closer the peoples of the two countries.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Gilani demonstrated the merits of a true statesman under extremely difficult conditions. He also noted the order's importance in terms of strengthening the relations between the two countries.

Gilani, in turn, said the ties between the two countries have always had a special character and thanked Turkish officials on behalf of the Pakistani people and the government.

Based on a decision of the Council of Ministers and Gul's recommendations, prime ministers, ministers and the staff of foreign diplomatic missions are awarded the order for developing friendly relations with Turkey and bringing their peoples closer.
