One PKK terrorist killed in clashes with Turkish forces
Turkish security forces clashed with a group of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists, resulting in the death of one PKK member, according to a statement released by the Bingol Governor's Office on Thursday Today`s Zaman reproted
The operation was conducted by a special operation teams from the Bingol Gendarmerie Command against a PKK group that torched two vehicles in the Genc district of Bingol on Monday. The group refused to surrender and opened fire on security forces. Following the ensuing clash, a PKK terrorist codenamed "Baver" was found dead with a Kalashnikov rifle and a hand grenade.
The PKK, which is fighting for autonomy in Turkey's mainly Kurdish Southeast, was founded on Marxist ideology. The conflict has claimed tens of thousands of lives. The group is labeled a terrorist organization by the European Union and the United States, which has supplied Predator drones to assist Turkey.
