Turkey will not allow terrorist organizations, whether it is PKK or Al Qaeda to take places on its border with Syria and will take all steps to prevent it, the Zaman newspaper quotes Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu as saying on Tuesday.

"Ankara will take all steps to prevent terrorism on its border with Syria and will not allow terrorist organizations to take places in the north of Syria," Davutoglu said.

He also stressed that Turkey is against establishment of a state or other formation created by the PKK in northern Syria.

According to Davutoglu, the measures taken by Kurdish Autonomy leader Massoud Barzani in the northern Iraq are insufficient to address the terror problem.

"This week I will visit Kurdish Autonomy of Iraq and will hold a meeting with Barzani in order to find ways to solve the situation in northern Syria," Davutoglu said.

Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for more than a year.

They turned into an armed struggle between the opposition and units of the power structures of the country. Reports about new armed incidents and victims appear on a regular basis. This is despite the country having declared a truce since mid-April according to UN-Arab League special envoy to Syria Kofi Annan's plan.

According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria has exceeded 17,000 people. About 230,000 people became refugees.
