10,000 people banned from entering Turkey for ties with ISIS
Turkish interior Minister Efkan Ala said over the weekend that Turkey has banned 10,000 people from 91 countries from entering the country for links to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS). Speaking to private news channel NTV, Ala said 1,085 people from 74 countries were deported for similar links.
"We are doing our utmost to prevent the flow of militants via Turkey toward ISIS. There has been intelligence cooperation with other countries," said Ala, adding that the ministry believed 700 Turkish nationals had joined ISIS. The minister said they were taking measures against Turkish nationals joining ISIS. "Once they return, they will be prosecuted if they have committed any crimes."
