Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan doesn't recognize Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as Egyptian president, TRT Haber TV channel reported May 20.

Erdogan made the remarks while answering the questions of reporters in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Turkish president said he still considers the overthrown president Mohammed Morsi as the head of Egypt.

"I am a democrat and can't endorse the coup against the legally elected president," said Erdogan.

Recently, Turkish president also criticized the decision on death penalty against the former president of Egypt.

Egyptian court referred 122 out of 166 defendants, including Morsi to the country's grand mufti to consider possible death sentences against them over charges of jailbreak and espionage May 16. The court should deliver a verdict on this issue on June 2.

The court sentenced Morsi to 20 years in prison in late April for inciting the killing of protesters during the unrest at the residence of the head of state in December 2012.
