Turkey and Azerbaijan are fraternal countries, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Oct. 22, the Turkish TRT Haber TV channel reported.

President Erdogan said that the two countries have common culture and history and cannot exist separately.

President Erdogan said that as earlier, Turkey would develop the relations with Azerbaijan, as well as the Turkic-speaking countries.

He also said that the relations with Libya, Egypt and a number of other Muslim countries are also important for Turkey.

According to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkey amounted to $954.66 million in January-August 2015. Turkey ranks the fourth with a 6.78 percent share of the total turnover in the list of foreign trade partners of Azerbaijan. Turkey ranks second (after Russia) among importers of Azerbaijan with a 12.58 percent share of the total volume of import operations. But it ranks 15th with a 2.59 percent share among exporting countries.
