The suicide bomber who committed the terror attack in Istanbul is a member of the terrorist group "Islamic State" (aka IS, ISIL, ISIS), Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said, the Haber 7 TV channel reported Jan. 12.

Earlier today, a terror attack at Sultanahmet Square in Istanbul killed 10 and injured 15 people.

"We know that this terror attack was carried out by a Syrian citizen, who was a member of IS. I want to emphasize that we will resolutely continue the fight against that group," said Davutoglu.

He noted that terrorism is the enemy of the entire mankind and expressed confidence that all perpetrators of such attacks will be punished.

The prime minister also offered his condolences to the families of those killed in the attack.

"All of today's victims are our foreign guests. I express my condolences to their families and want to say that all of Turkey's 78 million citizens share their pain," said Davutoglu.
