Turkish President Erdogan’s letter to President Putin is a serious and correct step, spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry Mariya Zakharova said June 28 at a briefing in Moscow.

She said that on June 27 and June 28, Dmitry Peskov, Russian president's spokesperson, gave detailed information on the developments in the relations between Russia and Turkey, and told about Russia’s assessment of Erdogan’s letter.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a letter of condolences to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin June 27 over the death of Russian Su-24 pilot and expressed regret over the incident.

The relations between Russia and Turkey deteriorated after the Su-24 bomber incident.

Following the incident, Russia's President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on taking measures for ensuring the country's national security and special economic measures against Turkey.
