Ankara unable to resolve Qatar crisis alone – expert

Baku, Azerbaijan, July 20

By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:

Ankara has no chance to solve the Qatar crisis alone as Turkey is not the main cause of this crisis, Yusuf Cinar, head of the Turkish analytical center Strategic Outlook, told Trend.

The most Turkey can do is lighten the attitude of Saudi Arabia regarding this crisis, he said.

The expert does not exclude that the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Gulf countries is related to the attempt to change Saudi Arabia’s attitude.

“A country that seeks to be a mediator in the crisis resolution should be neutral. Turkey, since the first days of the crisis, has sided with Qatar,” said Cinar.

Turkey is also aware that it is unrealistic to quickly resolve the Qatar crisis, according to him.

It was earlier reported that Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait on July 23-24.

Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE announced about breaking their diplomatic relations with Qatar June 5, accusing Doha of supporting terrorist organizations and destabilizing the situation in the Middle East.

Later, the authorities of Libya, Yemen, as well as the Maldives and Mauritius also announced about severing diplomatic relations with Qatar.
