The transfer of two more F-35 aircraft to Turkey is expected in March 2019, the Program Executive Officer for (Director of) the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter Program Office, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Arlington, Va., Vice Admiral Mathias W. Winter told reporters, Turkish media reported.

Winter also said no change has been made to the decision regarding the participation of Turkey in the multinational program for development of the F-35.

"We expect the transfer of two more aircraft in March 2019. There are no signs of changes to the decision regarding the delivery of 100 aircraft," he said.

In June, the American Lockheed Martin Corporation transferred to Turkey the first two multi-purpose F-35 fighter aircraft.

Turkey intends to purchase at least 100 units of multifunctional fighter-bombers of the fifth generation F-35 Lightning II. The procurement is carried out within the framework of the F-35 multinational development program under the auspices of the United States, to which Ankara joined in 2002.
