On the day of the municipal elections to be held March 31 in Turkey, holding wedding ceremonies has been prohibited in the country until 18:00 (GMT +3), Trend reports with reference to the Supreme Electoral Council of Turkey (YSK).

The sale of alcoholic beverages until 21:00 is also prohibited on the day of the municipal elections.

“On the day of the municipal elections, it is forbidden to make any forecasts about their results on TV and radio channels,” the report said.

Earlier, Turkey prohibited the use of the country's flag and religious symbols during the election campaigns for the 2019 municipal elections.

Moreover, the use of e-mail and SMS messages to promote a political party or candidate is prohibited as well.

The distribution of any kind of gifts and food by political parties or candidates for self-promotion purposes is also forbidden.

Municipal elections in Turkey are held every five years.
