Turkey and Iran will conduct joint operations against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist group, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said.

“PKK is experiencing the most difficult period,” Soylu added, Trend reports referring to the Turkish media on March 6.

He stressed that the total number of PKK terrorists does not exceed 700 people.

"The Turkish Armed Forces and the gendarmerie regularly conduct operations against PKK militants," Soylu said.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has lasted more than 25 years, claiming more than 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN and the EU.
