Turkish minister: US lacks clear position on withdrawal of troops from Syria

The US lacks a clear position regarding the withdrawal of troops from Syria, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said at a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Antalya, Trend reports via Turkish media.
Cavusoglu noted that the creation of an appropriate security zone in Syria's north is necessary to ensure the national security of Turkey.
He also noted that the creation of a security zone does not violate the territorial integrity of Syria.
The Turkey-Russia Joint Strategic Planning Group meeting is being held in Antalya. Plans for bilateral cooperation in 2019-2020 will be discussed during the meeting.
In late January 2019, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a statement that Turkey will not hold a dialogue at high level with Syria. According to him, Bashar Assad is responsible for the death of about a million innocent Syrian citizens.
On Dec. 12, 2018, Erdogan said the Turkish Armed Forces will launch a new military operation in Syria against PYD/YPG. Erdogan claimed there were US soldiers in the detachments of the terrorists in Syria.
