Eighty-four militants were killed as part of the operations conducted in March 2019 against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist organization, Trend reports referring to the Turkish Interior Ministry on April 5.

Reportedly, the operations on elimination of terrorists were carried out in Turkey, as well as outside the country - in Iraq, as well as in northern Syria.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has lasted more than 25 years, claiming more than 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN and the EU.

On January 20, 2018 Turkish Armed Forces, together with the Free Syrian, launched the Operation Olive Branch in Afrin, Syria.

On Aug. 24, 2016 units of the Turkish Armed Forces launched the Operation Euphrates Shield against the "Islamic State", and with the support of the Syrian opposition liberated the border town of Jarablus in northern Syria, as well as Al-Bab.
