Air transportation of passengers decreasing in Turkey

In Turkey, the number of passengers carried by air transport decreased by 5.3 percent in January-May 2019, compared to the same period of 2018, and amounted to over 74 million people, Trend reports referring to the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.

In January-May 2019, the share of passenger transportation by domestic flights accounted for over 40.385 million people, which is 13.7 percent less compared to January-May 2018.

However, the share of external flights accounted for over 33.698 million passengers, which is 7.1 percent more compared to the same period of 2018.

According to the ministry, in January-May 2019, Turkey’s three main airports, Sabiha Gokcen Airport, Esenboga Airport and Antalya Airport, carried a total of 28.1 million passengers.
