Opening date of new Istanbul Metro line disclosed

A new line between Tavsantepe metro station and Sabiha Gechken Airport in Istanbul will open in the second half of 2020, Trend reports referring to the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.

As the ministry notes, the construction of the new metro line in Istanbul is one of the important projects.

This will improve the situation in the transport system in the city and contribute to the growth of passenger traffic, according to the ministry.

A source in the ministry earlier told Trend that it was planned to increase the length of the Istanbul Metro lines to 600 kilometers.

At present, the Istanbul Metro consists of eight lines, six of which are in the European part of the city. Their total length is 160 kilometers.
