Some 62 percent of electricity is generated from domestic energy resources in Turkey, Trend reports citing Turkish media.
Out of this volume, the share of renewable energy sources comprises 45 percent, the report said.
The total electricity capacity reached 91,300 megawatts, with an additional capacity of 3,660 megawatts launched in 2019, the media said.
Turkey plans to invest $1 billion to the field of renewable energy sources, ex-Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Berat Albayrak said earlier.
The construction of new power plants will increase Turkey’s energy security, Albayrak said.
