Renault - first on Turkey's car market in terms of total sales in February 2020

Renault ranked ahead of Fiat in the Turkish car market in terms of total sales in February 2020, Trend reports referring to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

Renault held 15.6 percent of the Turkish car market, having accounted for the highest number of cars sold, followed by Fiat – 11.9 percent, Volkswagen – 8,3 percent, Peugeot – 6,4 percent, Hyundai – 4,5 percent, Ford – 2,7 percent, Opel – 3 percent, Honda – 4,4 percent, Skoda – 5 percent.

The remaining 38.2 percent accounted for other cars.

In February 2020, the number of vehicles used in Turkey increased by 56.2 percent compared to February 2019, and amounted to 53,135 cars.

In particular, the share of cars in the total number of vehicles in Turkey amounted to 60.3 percent, vans and trucks – 13.9 percent, motorcycles – 15.2 percent, tractors – 5.9 percent, while 4.7 percent accounted for other vehicles.

Turkey ranks sixth in Europe in car production. Ford, Fiat, Renault, Toyota, Honda, Opel, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and MAN are assembled in the country. Turkey also manufactures local brands of buses such as BMC, Temsa and Otokar.
