Turkey drops export of ready-made clothing to world markets

Turkey’s export of ready-made clothing to world markets dropped by 6.1 percent in January through March 2020 compared to the same period of 2019, amounting to $4.2 billion, Turkey’s Ministry of Trade told Trend on April 6.

Over the reporting period, Turkey’s export of ready-made clothing amounted to 9.9 percent of country’s total export.

In March 2020, Turkey’s export of ready-made clothing to world markets also dropped by 27.4 percent, compared to March 2019, amounting to $1.2 billion. Meanwhile, Turkey’s export of ready-made clothing amounted to 9 percent of country’s total export.

From March 2019 through March 2020, Turkey exported ready-made clothing worth $17.4 billion.

Turkey’s foreign trade turnover in February 2020 exceeded $32.2 billion.

In February 2020, export from Turkey increased by 2.3 percent compared to February 2019, exceeding $14.6 billion.

Turkey's import increased by 9.8 percent in February 2020 compared to the same month of 2019 and exceeded $17.6 billion.

From January through February 2020, Turkey’s trade turnover exceeded $66.1 billion.
