Iran reduces import of steel from Turkey

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 9

The export of steel from Turkey to Iran decreased by 53.13 percent from January through March 2020 compared to the same period of 2019 amounting to $8.7 million, the Turkish Ministry of Trade told Trend on April 9.

"In March 2020, the export of steel from Turkey to Iran decreased by 85.56 percent compared to March 2019 and amounted to $641,000," the ministry said.

The export of steel from Turkey to the world markets decreased by 15.1 percent from January through March 2020 compared to the same period of last year amounting to $3.1 billion.

The export of steel from Turkey amounted to 7.3 percent of the country's total export volume from January through March 2020.

In March 2020, Turkey exported steel worth $984.1 million to the world markets, which is 24.4 percent less than in the same month of 2019.

The export of steel from Turkey in March 2020 amounted to 7.3 percent of the country's total export volume.

Over the past 12 months (from March 2019 through March 2020), Turkey exported steel worth $13.3 billion.
