Turkey reveals indicators on cargo movement via its Karabiga port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 4

Shipment of cargo through the Turkish port of Karabiga in the Chanakkale province surpassed 4 million tons in the first 4 months of 2020, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

During the reporting period, 109,333 tons of cargo were moved by ships flying the Turkish flag, while ships flying the flags of other countries handled 3.9 million tons of cargo.

From January through April 2020, no cargo was transited through the Karabiga port.

Over the mentioned months, the volume of cargo shipment through the ports of Turkey exceeded 123.4 million tons.

Meanwhile, the volume of cargo handled by ships flying the Turkish flag surpassed 9.6 million tons.

The volume of cargo movement via the Turkish ports by ships flying their countries’ flags amounted to 4.9 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries amounted to 108.8 million tons.

Over the reporting period, over 24.9 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

The volume of cargo movement through the Turkish ports amounted to more than 28.8 million tons in April 2020.

In the reporting month, the volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 2.2 million tons, while cargo transshipment by ships flying the flags of other countries stood at 25.6 million tons.

According to the ministry, 6.5 million tons of cargo was transported in transit through the ports of Turkey in March 2020.
