Number of driven vehicles in Turkey increases

The number of vehicles used in Turkey increased by 29.6 percent in May 2020 compared to May 2019, having amounted to 52,080 vehicles, Trend reports on June 29 referring to Turkey’s Institute of Statistics (TUİK).

The share of cars in the total number of vehicles in Turkey made up 43.7 percent, vans and trucks – 8.8 percent, motorcycles – 37.4 percent, and tractors – 7.4 percent. The remaining 2.7 percent accounted for other vehicles.

Turkey ranks sixth in Europe in car production. Ford, Fiat, Renault, Toyota, Honda, Opel, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and MAN are assembled in Turkey. Turkey also manufactures local brands of buses such as BMC, Temsa and Otokar.
