Airfreight operations number via Turkey's Diyarbakir Airport decreases

As many as 4,932 tons of cargo were transported through Turkey’s Diyarbakir Airport from January through July 2020, which is 38 percent less compared to the same period of 2019, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

During the specified period, 4,544 tons of cargo were transported via the country's domestic flights, showing a 37-percent decrease over the year.

At the same time, 388 tons of cargo were transported through Diyarbakir Airport through international flights, having plummeted by 52 percent year-on-year, the ministry said.

Diyarbakir Airport served 570,057 passengers during the first seven months of this year, which is 44 percent less compared to the same period of last year.

As reported, 13,818 passengers were served on domestic flights over this period, while a year earlier this indicator was 63 percent more.

In the first seven months of 2020, 4,042 flights were carried out through Diyarbakir Airport, which is 38 percent less compared to the same months of last year.

During this period, 3,896 flights were carried out on domestic routes, which is 37 percent less compared to the same period of 2019.

International flights via Diyarbakir Airport slumped by 57 percent over the year, amounting to 146 flights.

From January through July 2020, air traffic in Turkey decreased by 50.9 percent and amounted to 431,049 flights. Meanwhile, over 42.6 million passengers were served at all Turkish airports.

During the mentioned period, over 1.2 million tons of cargo were transported through all airports in the country.
