Volume of cargo shipment through Turkey's Canakkale port disclosed

The volume of cargo transshipment through Turkey’s Canakkale port amounted to over 2.08 million tons from January through July 2020, Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Sept.8.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, 38,800 tons of cargo were handled through the Canakkale port by ships flying the Turkish flag, and more than 2.04 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Meanwhile, no cargo transit was carried out through the port of Canakkale, the ministry said.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to 209.8 million tons from January through July 2020.

Over the mentioned period, ships flying the Turkish flag shipped over 16.9 million tons of goods.

In the first seven months of this year, the volume of cargo movement via Turkish ports by ships flying their countries' flags made up 8 million tons, while by ships flying the flags of other countries – 184.8 million tons, the ministry said.

During this period, more than 41.8 million tons of cargo were handled in transit through the ports of Turkey.

As reported, in July 2020, the volume of cargo shipment through the Turkish ports amounted to 30.2 million tons. In this month, ships flying the Turkish flag transported over 2.6 million tons of cargo.

Cargo transshipment via the ports of Turkey by ships flying their countries’ flags amounted to 1 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 26.5 million tons.

Over 5.6 million tons of goods were transshipped in transit through the Turkish ports in July 2020.
