Demand for Turkish-made furniture in global markets declines

The export of wood and furniture from Turkey to global markets decreased by 1.3 percent from January through September 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, amounting to $3.94 billion, the Turkish Trade Ministry told Trend.

At the same time, Turkey’s export of wood and furniture made up 3.6 percent of the country's total exports during this period.

In September 2020, Turkey exported wood and furniture worth over $514.4 million to international markets, which is 12.4 percent more compared to the same month of 2019, the ministry said.

Turkey’s furniture and wood exports for September 2020 accounted for 3.4 percent of the country's total exports.

Over the past 12 months (from September 2019 through September 2020), Turkey exported furniture and wood worth over $5.47 billion abroad.
