Turkey discloses 2M2021 data on cargo shipment via local ports from Algeria

The volume of cargo transshipment from Algeria through the ports of Turkey made up nearly 1.5 million tons from January through February of 2021, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the volume of cargo transshipment from Algeria by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 58,070 tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 862,729 tons.

At the same time, ships flying the Algerian flag transported 573,202 tons of cargo through the ports of Turkey.

During this period, the volume of transshipment of goods in transit from Algeria through the ports of Turkey amounted to 26,609 tons.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey exceeded 58.3 million tons in the first two months of 2021.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to over 4.7 million tons.

From January through February of this year, more than 53.5 million tons of cargo have been handled by ships flying the flags of other countries, added the ministry.

Meanwhile, 11.8 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

In February 2021, 29.6 million tons of cargo were handled through the ports, including 2.2 million tons by ships flying the Turkish flag, and more than 26.9 million tons by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Besides, more than 5.8 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey in February 2021, added the ministry.
