Turkey discloses volume of 2M2021 cargo shipment via local ports from Moldova

The volume of transshipment of goods from Moldova via Turkish ports made up 650,830 tons in the first 2 months of 2021, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Apr.8.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the volume of cargo shipment from Moldova via the ports of Turkey by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 3,000 tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 646,284 tons.

At the same time, ships flying the Moldovan flag transported 1,546 tons of cargo through the mentioned ports.

During the reporting period, no cargo from Moldova was transited via the ports of Turkey.

The volume of cargo transshipment via Turkish ports from January through February 2021 exceeded 58.3 million tons.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to over 4.7 million tons.

From January through February of this year, more than 53.5 million tons of cargo have been handled by ships flying the flags of other countries, added the ministry.

Meanwhile, 11.8 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

In February 2021, 29.6 million tons of cargo were handled through the ports, including 2.2 million tons by ships flying the Turkish flag, and more than 26.9 million tons by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Besides, more than 5.8 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey in the reporting month, added the ministry.
