Turkey's foreign trade turnover in May 2021 exceeded $37.1 billion, the Turkish Ministry of Trade told Trend on July 7.
At the same time, the country's export volume increased by 65.7 percent compared to the same period of 2020 up to $16.49 billion.
Meanwhile, import grew by 54 percent and amounted to over $20.6 billion.
Turkey's foreign trade turnover in the first 5 months of 2021 made up almost $188.7 billion.
Turkey's export volume has risen by 38.3 percent from January through May 2021 on annual basis up to $85.2 billion, the ministry said.
According to the ministry, Turkey's import increased by 25.2 percent in the reporting period compared to the period from January through May 2020, amounting to more than $103.4 billion.
Turkey's foreign trade turnover amounted to $388.9 billion in 2020.
As of 2020, Turkey's export volume decreased by 6.3 percent compared to 2019, amounting to $169.5 billion.
At the same time, Turkey’s import grew by 4.3 percent compared to 2019, amounting to $219.4 billion.
