Cargo traffic at Turkish Adnan Menderes airport notably grows in 6M2021

The cargo turnover at Turkish Istanbul Adnan Menderes International Airport from January through June 2021 grew, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on July 30.

According to the ministry, this indicator made up 38,529 tons, thus increasing by 53 percent on annual basis.

In the first half of this year, cargo turnover on domestic flights via the airport climbed to 30,748 tons (increase of 88 percent compared to the period from January through June 2020) while on international flights was 7,781 tons (decrease of 22 percent).

Passenger traffic at the airport exceeded 2.4 million, which is by 2 percent more than in 1H2020. Over 2.1 million passengers were served on domestic flights (six-percent increase), while 310,066 passengers - on international flights (20-percent decrease).

The ministry also noted that the number of flights was 20,925 from January through June 2021, which is by 10 percent more than in the same period of last year.

Meanwhile, 17,606 domestic flights (increase by 13 percent) and 3,319 international flights (decrease by six percent) were made.

Over 40.2 million passengers and 1.3 million tons of cargo had been transported through all Turkish airports from January through June 2021, the ministry said.
