Turkey unveils 7M2021 volumes of cargo movement via domestic ports

The ports of Turkey handled 219.5 million tons of cargo from January through July 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

During the reporting period, the volume of cargo transportation by ships flying the flag of Turkey amounted to 17.5 million tons, the ministry stated.

At the same time, cargo transportation through the Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of other countries amounted to 201.9 million tons, the ministry said.

In addition, during the specified period, Turkish ports handled 43.9 million tons of transit cargo.

In July 2021, the ports of Turkey as a whole handled 31.3 million tons of cargo.

The volume of cargo transportation by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 2.2 million tons in July 2021, by ships flying the flags of other countries – 29.1 million tons.

According to the ministry, in July 2021, the ports of Turkey handled 6.68 million tons of transit cargo.
