Turkey sees rise in cargo turnover at Adnan Menderes Airport for 7M2021

The cargo turnover at Turkish Istanbul Adnan Menderes International Airport has grown from January to July 2021, Turkey's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on August 16.

According to the ministry, this indicator amounted to 36,530 tons, up by eight percent on annual basis.

In the first seven months of this year, the cargo turnover on domestic flights via the airport reached 26,713 tons (an increase of 28 percent compared to the period from January through July 2020) while on international flights was 9,817 tons (decline of 24 percent).

During the reporting period, passenger traffic at the airport reached 3.5 million people, which is 18 percent more than from January through July 2020. Some 2.8 million passengers were served on domestic flights (a 16-percent increase), while 632,654 passengers - on international flights (25-percent rise).

Meanwhile, according to the ministry, the number of flights was 28,152, which is by 19 percent more year on year.

At the same time, 22,242 domestic flights (increase by 18 percent) and 5,910 international flights (growth by 22 percent) were made.

Some 57.3 million passengers and 1.7 million tons of cargo have been transported through all Turkish airports from January through July 2021, added the ministry.
