Turkey discloses freight transshipment via its ports from Greece

Turkish ports handled 1,412,076 tons of cargo from Greece in January 2022, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

Ships under the Turkish flag delivered 65,632 tons of freight from Greece to domestic ports, and ships flying the flags of other countries – 1,326,845 tons.

During this period, Greek-flagged vessels transported 19,599 tons of cargo to Turkish ports.

In January 2022, Turkish ports handled 182,304 tons of transit cargo from Greece.

In general, Turkey delivered 33,337,392 tons of cargo in January 2022 via local ports.

Cargo traffic by ships flying the flag of Turkey totaled 2,406,438 tons, whereas transportation through ships under the flags of foreign countries reached 30,930,954 tons.

Moreover, the ports of Turkey handled 7,688,129 tons of transit cargo in the reporting period.

Totally, Turkey transported 386,396,718 tons of cargo in 2021 via its ports.

During the reporting period, freight transportation by ships under the flag of Turkey via domestic ports amounted to 29,999,196 tons, and by ships under the flags of other countries reached 356,397,522 tons.

Furthermore, Turkish ports transshipped 78,008,944 tons of transit cargo in 2021.
