Turkish Ankara Esenboga Airport increases cargo turnover by more than half

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 12. Ankara Esenboga International Airport handled 26,189 tons of cargo in April 2022, up 67 percent from the same month in 2021, Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

Airport's cargo turnover on local flights amounted to 17,369 tons (an increase of 37 percent compared to April 2021), during this period, on international flights - 8,820 tons (an increase of 1.9 times).

Passenger traffic at the airport amounted to 2.4 million people, which is 68 percent more than in April 2021. At the same time, passenger traffic on local flights amounted to 2.03 million people (an increase of 54 percent), on international flights - 427,311 people (an increase of 1.9 times).

According to ministry, number of flights performed in April 2022 amounted to 21,000, which is 37 percent more than the same month in 2021. At the same time, number of flights performed on local routes amounted to 16,495 (an increase of 24 percent), on international routes - 4,505 (an increase of 1.1 times).

Passenger traffic at all airports in Turkey amounted to 41.1 million people in April 2022, and cargo turnover – 1.05 million tons.
