BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 18. Technical work for Türkiye's first offshore wind farm is expected to start in 2024, Head of the Board of Directors of the Offshore Wind Energy Association (DÜRED) Murat Durak said, Trend reports.

"For offshore wind power, a total of 1,111 square kilometers in Bandırma, 299 square kilometers in Bozcaada, 75.6 square kilometers in Gelibolu, 410 square kilometers on the Karabıga coast have been allocated. Offshore technical studies could start in 2024. The Renewable Energy Support Mechanism (YEKDEM) has set a base price of $6.75 per kWh for offshore wind farm projects," he added.

Durak also noted that by 2035 Türkiye plans to increase offshore wind power to 5 gigawatts.

Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources announced the allocation of a renewable energy site on the coast of Bandırma, Bozcaada, Gelibolu and Karabıga in August.
