BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 13. Over 98.2 million tons of cargo were transported from Russia to Turkish ports in 2023, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.
The ministry's data showed that last year, Turkish-flagged vessels delivered 649,672 tons of cargo from Russia to the ports, while vessels under the flags of other countries - 591,210 tons.
During this period, Russia-flagged vessels delivered 10 million tons of cargo to Turkish ports.
Meanwhile, a total of 4.9 million tons of transit cargo were transported to Turkish ports from Russia.
Overall, the ports of Türkiye received 391.7 million tons of cargo in 2023.
The cargo traffic of Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 29.3 million tons. Vessels under the flags of other countries carried 362.4 million tons of cargo to the ports of Türkiye.
According to the ministry, in 2023, 66.7 million tons of transit cargo was transported from the Turkish ports.
In December 2023, the ports of Türkiye accepted 36.4 million tons of cargo.
During this period, the reception of cargo to domestic ports by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.7 million tons.
"Cargo shipments of vessels under the flags of other countries to Turkish ports amounted to 33.6 million tons," the ministry said in a statement.
In addition, a total of 5.2 million tons of transit cargo was transported from the ports of Türkiye in December 2023.
During the reporting period, the Turkish ports received 60,195 vessels.
According to the information, the number of vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by Turkish ports during this time amounted to 40,918, and the number of vessels under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 19,277.
In December last year, the ports of Türkiye accepted 4,697 ships (3,190 under the flags of other countries, 1,507 under the flag of Türkiye).
