BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 15. The Turkish port of Canakkale received 3.6 million tons of cargo from January through December 2023, Trend reports, referring to Türkiye's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
All cargo was shipped using vessels registered under the flags of foreign nations. The transshipment of transit cargo was not carried out during this period, according to the ministry.
Turkish ports received 391.7 million tons of cargo from January through December 2023.
From January through December 2023, the cargo flow of vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 29.3 million tons. Meanwhile, cargo traffic by vessels under the flags of other countries to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 362.4 million tons.
At the same time, between January and December 2023, the ports of Türkiye handled a total of 66.7 million tons of transit cargo.
In December 2023, the ports of Türkiye received 36.4 million tons of cargo. During this period, the reception of cargo to inland ports by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.7 million tons. Cargo shipments by vessels under the flags of other countries to Turkish ports amounted to 33.6 million tons.
In addition, in December 2023, a total of 5.2 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye.
Turkish ports received 60,195 vessels from January through December 2023.
According to the information, during this time the number of vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by Turkish ports amounted to 40,918, and vessels under the Turkish flag totaled 19,277.
In December last year, the ports of Türkiye accepted 4,697 vessels.
Reportedly, during this period, the number of vessels accepted by Turkish ports under the flags of other countries amounted to 3,190, and the number of vessels accepted under the Turkish flag amounted to 1,507.
