Turkish army rents unmanned drone from Israel

Türkiye Materials 27 June 2007 17:50 (UTC +04:00)

( Cihan ) - The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) announced Wednesday that an unmanned observation drone has been rented from Israel for further actions against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) activities in southeastern and eastern Turkey.

The latest increase in terrorist activities is apparently the main reason for the lease and upcoming purchase as the importance of the unmanned aircraft in countering terrorism is undeniable.

The TSK currently owns one unmanned plane purchased from the United States and the new drone is expected to be handed over to the Turkish army next week.

Israel is also expected to deliver 10 drones in 2008 which Turkey purchased in 2005.
