France, Strasbourg / Т corr A. Maharramli / Representatives of the European Union (EU) made statements on the results of parliamentary elections held in Turkey on 22 July.
The Chairman of the European Commission, Hose Manuel Barozzu, congratulated Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayip Erdogan, on his victory in the parliamentary elections. Noting that the Prime Minister in person had taken the obligations on long-term cooperation with the EU, Barozzu stressed that the victory achieved was important for the Turkish people at a time when the country is heading toward political and economic reforms.
In his interview with the Italian newspapers of the La Repubblica and the La Stampa, the Deputy Chairman of the European Commission Franco Frattini voiced his satisfaction with the fair results of the elections, which eliminated the risk of extremism.
The British Foreign Minister, David Miliband, noted the importance of assistance to any Government established in any corner of Europe. Stability and stable political situation in turkey meets the interests of England, Miliband added.
