Azerbaijani Communications Ministry to introduce new digital TV broadcasting standard

The technical council of the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry decided to introduce the new digital TV standard DVB-T2, the Ministry told Trend on Wednesday.

According to the report, at present the ministry has adopted new standards for the transition to DVB-T2 digital broadcasting.

"A social package which broadcasts in DVB-T standard has been created," the ministry said. "Work is underway to expand the coverage of digital television signals of the whole population of the country. Commercial packages are being prepared. The operators will be charged with broadcasting."

The total number of transmitters using the digital TV signal of the DVB-T standard is 50.

A social package, consisting of 12 television channels is available to the public. The digital content is broadcast in MPEG-4 format. Subscribers must buy decoders for the transition to digital broadcasting.

Using the DVB-T2 new standard is a promising innovation in the transition to digital broadcasting.

The second generation of digital terrestrial broadcasting system DVB-T2 can be used for fixed, mobile and other techniques and its payload is 30-50 per cent more than the DVB-T previous version under the same conditions.
