Azerbaijan’s main energy producer increases electricity generation

Azerenergy Joint-Stock Company, which produces and distributes electricity in Azerbaijan, generated 15.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in January-August 2014, according to the company's website.

Between January and July 2013, this figure exceeded 14.3 billion kilowatt hours.

The company said that in August 2014, Azerenergy generated over two billion kilowatt hours of electricity versus 1.7 billion in the same period of 2013.

Azerenergy is a major producer of electricity in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani power grid's energy generation capacity has increased by 30 percent over the past five years.

Currently, the figure stands at 7,105 megawatts, which enables to annually produce about 24 billion kilowatt hours of electricity.

This in turn allows Azerbaijan to export annually 2.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity.
