Baku, Azerbaijan, May 1
Trend:
Azerbaijan Railways CJSC has reduced the tariffs for container and freight car transportation by 50 percent and 35 percent, respectively, spokesperson of the company Nadir Azmammadov told Trend May 1.
The decision has been made in order to stimulate all types of transit, export and import container transportations, he said.
Negotiations between the heads of the railways of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Russia, Turkey, Georgia and major logistics companies in the region were held before the adoption of the decision on reducing the tariffs.
After assessing the alternative transport corridors, it was decided to reduce the tariffs and sign contracts with two additional well-known forwarding companies. The decisions were agreed with the Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan.
The contract with these companies will allow "door-to-door" delivery.
