Azerbaijan’s State Security Service has detained a group of persons suspected of illegal operational and investigative activity, according to a joint statement by the state service and Prosecutor General's Office of the country Aug. 19.
The statement said that chief engineer on the main network of the Bakcell LTD LLC Shahin Israilov, operator of the Call Center of the Azerfon LLC Fuad Ahmadli, operator of customer care service of the Azercell Telecom LLC Etibar Musayev were transferring to Vugar Gasimov personal data of many users, as well as printout of their call history, determining location of individuals by an antenna, and passing sensitive information about these persons over via SMS, and thus have caused serious damage to the rights of individuals and legal persons.
The Main Investigation Department of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan has initiated a criminal case under in connection with violation of legislation on operative and search activity and abuse of official duties. Shahin Israilov, Fuad Ahmadli, Etibar Musayev and Vugar Gasimov have been detained as suspects. The court has selected a preventive measure in the form of arrest in their regard.
