The first growth hormone production line was inaugurated in Iran, making the country fifth in the world in this regard.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani inaugurated the production line at Daroupakhsh Company on May 30, Iran's IRNA news agency reported.
The company's managing director Naser Naqdi said the project will save the country over $300 million annually.
"Fifty billion rials and $500,000 has been invested in the project," Naqdi added.
Official USD exchange rate is currently about 25,550 rials in Iran.
Growth hormone spurs growth in children and adolescents. It also helps to regulate body composition, body fluids, muscle and bone growth, sugar and fat metabolism, and possibly heart function.
