Georgian commercial banks increase credit investments

The amount of credit investments of Georgian commercial banks increased by 629.9 million lari ($ 1 = 2.01 lari) or 5.1 percent to 13.0 billion lari in December 2014 compared to the previous month.

During this period, the amount of loans issued in the national currency increased by 276.1 million lari (5.8 percent) while in foreign currency - by 353.8 million (4.7 percent), the National Bank of Georgia told Trend.

The commercial banks issued the loans in national currency worth 1.5 billion lari to the legal entities - residents by the end of December 2014. This is by 9.8 percent or 136.7 million lari more compared to the previous month. The loans in the foreign currency hit 4.8 billion lari - 5.2 percent or 238.2 million lari more.

In general, the largest share in the volume of lending to legal entities - 30.7 percent accounted for trade.

The volume of issued loans increased by 12.2 percent in December, i.e. by 212.2 million lari and hit 2.0 billion compared to November.
