Kazakhstan’s Azia Auto enters Chinese car market

Kazakh car assembling plant Azia Auto has started exporting its LADA 4x4 SUVs to Chinese market, the company said Feb. 21.

Two consignments of LADA cars were supplied to China in January. As much as 100 LADA 4x4 cars have already been sold in the Chinese market.

In the near future, Kazakhstan will start regular supply and delivery of 120 more LADA 4x4 SUVs to China. The cars will be supplied by railway.

Azia Auto plans to export 800 cars to China in 2Q17 and up to 3,500 cars until the end of the year.

The car plant Azia Auto, located in Kazakh city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, was founded in 2002 and it is the largest car producer in Kazakhstan. The plant’s partners include such major corporations as Volkswagen Group, General Motors, Renault-Nissan-AvtoVAZ and KIA Motors.

In January 2016, Azia Auto sold 555 cars in Kazakhstan, or 24 percent of all the cars sold in the Kazakh market.
